It is easy to add lace to a plain garment using a knitting machine. You need to e work out a pattern that can accept a few purl rows, for example you cast on with waste yarn and then knit a picot hem and turn up the hem, knit about 2 rows at main tension and then catch the lace onto the needles. It doesn't need to be knit-in lace any will do, change the tension to one tension higher, bring all needles out to work position and close latched on needles then knit row carefully, you can add another row after another 3 rows of plain knitting. Use scrap yarn and knit 5 rows and turn the work so that you are on the right side
Finished garment using above method.
